A cute little reporter from the Mexican television network TV Azteca wandered into the New York Jets locker room on Saturday waiting for an interview with QB Mark Sanchez when…surprise, she was harassed by the players.
Jeez, I’m all for “treat others as you’d like to be treated” and even partial to the sexual harassment laws that our country has seen fit to put into place for protection. But I’ll be darned if miss Ines Sainz didn’t have an inkling of what was in store for her as she sauntered into the mens locker room.
“I die of embarrassment!” Sainz wrote in Spanish on her Twitter account. “I am in the locker room of the Jets waiting for Mark Sanchez(notes) while trying not to look to anywhere!”
Team owner Woody Johnson offered Sainz what was described as an “open apology.”
“I called her the minute I found out about it, and I finally spoke to her later on in the day,” Johnson told the media. “We take this very, very seriously, as you can imagine. We want all of our reporters, female or male, to be comfortable wherever they are, on the sideline, in the locker room or at a game. We have to make the working environment professional, representing the New York Jets well.”
I think sexual harassment is detestable. But in this case can you really be so obtuse? Have you taken a look at this chick? Me thinks she wanted some publicity of her own.
